About ohbok

Hi, I’m Chloe Ahn — the person behind ohbok.

I work in the Korean cosmetics industry, on the development and manufacturing side of the products themselves. That means I spend my days close to how skincare actually gets made in Korea: the ingredients, the formulation choices, the quality standards, and the difference between what a label promises and what a product really does.

I started ohbok because most English-language K-beauty coverage falls into one of two buckets: hype (everything is “holy grail,” usually because someone got paid), or surface-level roundups that never touch what’s inside the bottle. I wanted a third option — reviews from someone who reads the Korean market from the inside, in Korean, and understands how these products are built.

I read Korean sources most English sites never touch — Korean reviews, ingredient breakdowns, community discussions, and the local launches that reach the global market months later, if at all. I look at formulations, not just marketing. And when I recommend something, it’s because I’d tell a friend to buy it. Whether you’re here for breakouts, sun care, or something you take instead of apply — I hope ohbok helps you spend smarter.
